European Sports Development Network

developing theory, practice and pedagogy in community sports development

Who We Are

ESDN is a not-for profit organisation of individuals and groups in the field of sports development set up through the PE and Sports Development Research (PESD) Unit @ Nottingham Trent University. Founding members of the PESD research cluster first met in May 2008 to share academic perpsectives in the broader field of sports sociology, health promotion, governance of sport and the theory of sports development. As of November 2009 we have 46 members from Germany, Canada, Iran, Scotland, Ireland, England and Spain.

CONSULTANCY, ADVICE and COMMISSIONED RESEARCH

The ESDN offer advice to community groups in need of sports development guidance, and help if possible. However, as a member funded organisation we will take on commisioned work via local authorities, National Governing Bodies of Sport, Governments or Quangos in the EU or beyond.
